Speaker Building Progress

DIY Speaker Build

The pretty parts for this project have been in my closet over a month and I'm still in the testing phases. At the last juncture I presented a rough prototype for speaker placement. The alignment was to present great staging within a small room. I have settled on the overall shape and eternal volume. The cabinets are constructed but there is more work ahead. I must now fine-tune the crossover network.

The cabinets are built with scrap wood and some butcher block from Ikea. With the help of a friend we layered the sides, back, and bottom with MDF and Walnut plywood. The face and top was cut from one piece of butcher block. Overall the construction is simple but keeping with the prototype the face required an offset angle. Later we make it pretty with stain, paint, gloss, and shinny binding posts. Tags
